Director of Social Services- Maryland
America World Adoption Association, an evangelical Christian non-profit international adoption agency based in McLean, Virginia is seeking a full-time Director of Social Services to work in Maryland.
Responsibilities include conducting/supervising home studies and post placements; obtaining and maintaining the agency’s license in accordance with state regulations; conducting home study orientation meetings and training for families; managing a network of as-needed social workers to conduct home studies and post placements with families; conducting initial on-the-job training for home study coordinators; assisting public relations managers with adoption events as needed; meeting with families in the office or at the family’s home during or after business hours. In addition, the worker would expect to have some office work in the McLean, Virginia office to include administrative and case management work with families adopting internationally.
The qualified candidate is a committed believer in Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible, has dynamic skills to communicate with prospective families the blessing of adoption, is thorough and complete in dealing with all issues and problems, is a self-starter and able to follow through on tasks, has excellent verbal/written communication skills, and has basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
Master’s degree in Social Work or a related human services/child welfare field required with at least four years direct experience child welfare. Licensure at the Maryland LCSW or LCSW-C required.

Internships
America World Adoption Association is seeking individuals to serve as
summer interns (unpaid) in several departments. Part-time and full-time internships are available in public relations, adoption programs, and office administration.
The qualified candidate is a committed believer in Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible, feels a calling to be involved with adoption and orphan care, is currently seeking a degree in a field relevant to the applicable department (e.g. social work, human services, public relations, human resources/office administration, etc.), and possesses basic computer skills.

What is a Statement of Faith?
A Statement of Faith is a brief description of your Christian faith and how you believe it would impact your involvement with America World. It should include, at a minimum, a brief narrative of your faith journey and how that journey has continued to shape your daily life, along with a description of the spiritual disciplines that have helped to develop your faith.
Why do we require a Statement of Faith?
As an agency, America World exists to help America’s families and the world’s orphans experience the love of Jesus Christ through the Spirit of Adoption. We strive to support families in the adoption journey, as well as promote the placement of as many children into Christian homes as possible. By requiring that our staff members are experiencing a growing relationship with Christ, we are able to provide the Christian support and guidance that helps realize this vision.
